Google has launched Google Profiles. It allows you to make a quick profile on Google so when people Google your name, the link to your profile will show up at the bottom of the list of results. This is good for people that don't like the things that come up when their name is Googled.

A company called Polar Rose is offering face recognition to Flickr. People can upload photos and Flickr will group faces together once the user has identified each face. Then the appropriate faces will be tagged in future uploaded photos. Whether or not the program will work accurately is not known.

The new 3G model of the sidekick will be out mid-May. It is thinner than previous models and has a 3.2 megapixel camera. It also has the ability to stream live video to your favorite social networks such as Youtube, Facebook, etc. It also has a home Twitter application.

Google is now releasing Google News Timeline which will allow you to view news on a given topic in scale by days, weeks, months, and years. You can even specify where the information is coming from, such as magazines or newspapers.

A new solar powered phone has been announced that will be released in Japan from the carrier KDDI. It will take 10 minutes to charge up the phone for one phone call or for 120 minutes of stand by time.

Facebook has recently announced that they have gotten 200 million users!

People in the lab at MIT have made a set up so that hamsters giving little movement on a wheel can generate electricity. This can lead to much bigger things, such as maybe being able to power a laptop by just moving a bit.

Google search now has a feature where you can enter a certain color so pictures containing that color theme will come up. It is not yet available to everyone but Google is working on having it available in the near future.

There have been many studies done about video games, and the latest studies show that playing action video games such as Call of Duty can improve your eyesight. Games like these make it easier for you to see contrast.
Microsoft is ending Encarta due to the fact that Wikipedia has become so popular.

A test was done on a few over 200 students using Facebook and noticed that 68% of them did worse in school than those that did not use Facebook. Because this test didn't use many people it is not necessarily reliable and/or accurate, but Facebook obsessions definitely aren't great.
